How to improve your French?

About me

"There are different ways to improve in a foreign language"

Bonjour,

I am Patricia,

I’m a native speaker so I can correct your pronunciation and mistakes.

I’m an English teacher, I passed the highly  competitive teaching competition which requires both a good knowledge of French grammar and syntax as well as English ones. So I can explain by comparing both languages. (spelling/rules/conjugations).

I’m flexible: different hours during the day of the week.

I worked as a bilingual secretary in Marseilles before deciding to improve my English.

For 7 and a half years, I worked for AIR FRANCE at Heathrow airport in London. During my time there, my son was born.

However, I missed France and eventually moved to Versailles, where I taught English for five years. My daughter was born during that time. After missing the sun and seaside, I moved back to the South of France, specifically Nice, where I’ve lived for the past 20 years.

For the past two decades, I have taught English to teenagers aged 13 to 18.

Now, I would like to help women with the tedious paperwork and communication tasks that can make living on the Riviera more enjoyable.

By offering tailor-made sessions, I hope to create a community where people can meet, chat, improve, and avoid feeling isolated.

You will learn in context, through conversations. I’m not in favour of learning rules by heart but through your « mistakes » I will correct with the right pronunciation or I will explain the rules.

I will send you resources and recaps after each class with the vocabulary and expressions we have studied  that you can review and learn at any time (rules/podcasts/short videos…). It is easier to memorize because you will remember our conversation and you will be able to use them in your everyday life.

The classes are tailor-made. You tell me what you like doing, why you need to speak French (work? leisure? integrate?), your preferences (conversation/listening/writing…).

Last but not least: I will also give some clues about the French culture, the dos and don’ts for a better integration.

The classes last one hour.

Learning has to be fun. It doesn’t matter if you make mistakes, you will learn throughout time and improve until you are completely fluent if you live in the country or at least be able to understand and enjoy the art de vivre à la française.

"I’m so excited to share with you the new activity I’ll organise with Laurence to practise French and know about home decoration."

First, Laurence approached me to see if we could share one event related to the French Art de Vivre.

When she told me what she thought about, I immediately said yes!"

Let's work together to make your transition to life in France as smooth and stress-free as possible.
